PROFESSIONAL CAREER

I was a Police Officer Officer for the Tempe Police Department from 1998-2023. After graduating from the Arizona Law Enforcement Academy (ALEA).

During my time as a Police Officer, I served as a:

• Patrol Officer
• Computer Forensic Detective
• Recruit Training Officer at the Arizona Law Enforcement Academy
• Patrol Sergeant
• 7 years as a member of the department SWAT team.
• Firearms instructor (Rifle, Pistol, and Shotgun) 15 years full-time, 19 years total
• Arizona Post (AZPOST) Subject Matter Expert (SME) in firearms training

COMPETITIVE SHOOTING EXPERIENCE

I first began shooting competitively at a local police only competition (Phoenix Combat Classic) in 1999. It was highly encouraged by my department instructors to attend shooting matches as a way to develop and maintain shooting skills. Although I did not place very well in that match, I was hooked, and my interest (obsession) with competitive shooting was born.

Fortunately, living in Arizona, I had access to one of the most active competitive shooting facilities in the world, The Rio Salado Sportsman’s Club. Not a week goes by without numerous types of competitive shooting events taking place. In fact, during most months there are no less than 10 organized competitive shooting matches, and that is just practical pistol alone. During my competitive shooting experience, I have participated in several different competitive shooting disciplines.

Below are some of the shooting disciplines I participate in and my current classifications:

 

USPSA – Master in Production, Single Stack, Revolver, Limited, L10, PCC

IDPA – Master in Enhanced Service Pistol, Stock Service Pistol, and Carry Optics

NRA Action Pistol (Bianchi Cup) – High Master in Open, High Master in Metallic, 

NRA PPC – Expert in Semi-auto and Revolver

USPSA Multigun

NRA Bullseye - Expert in Rimfire, Centerfire, and .45

2010 NRA Bianchi Cup Production National Champion (XD 5" tactical)

2012 World Action Pistol Championship Iron Sight Aggregate - 1st Place (XDm 5.25)

2012 World Action Pistol Championship Gold Medal Team USA Member (Production  (XDm 5.25) Team with Rob Leatham) 

2015 NRA Bianchi Cup Multi-Gun Aggregate National Champion  (Springfield Armory Custom Shop 1911 - Open and Metallic)

2015 NRA Bianchi Cup High Law Enforcement (4th overall in open and won the practical event) (Springfield Armory Custom Shop 1911)

2016 and 2017  USPSA Single Stack High Law Enforcement (Springfield Armory Custom Shop 1911)

2016 and 2017  USPSA Revolver Hi Law Enforcement (Smith and Wesson 929)

2016 NRA Bianchi Cup 1920 (25th person in history of the event to achieve a perfect score) (Springfield Armory Custom Shop 1911)

2016 NRA Bianchi Cup Barricade and Falling plate winner and High Law Enforcement (Springfield Armory Custom Shop 1911)

2017 NRA Bianchi Cup Metallic Score of 1913...Previous record was 1910 (Springfield Armory Custom Shop 1911)

2018 CMP Presidents 100 - Service Pistol  (XDm 5.25)
